Another attorney recommended I see Jim for my divorce. He walked me through the divorce process, what life would look like afterward, and how it could affect the kids. He got me the visitation with my daughter that I wanted. The whole process was quick, and it didn't cost much.

I was locked up on a drug charge and my mom called Jim. He visited me in jail and listened to my side of it. At first I was embarrassed and wouldn't answer all his questions, but after talking with him I felt more at ease. I told him everything, and he got me out without bail. He got me into a diversion program, and now I have no record.

I was attacked outside a bar by a group of men. They stabbed me 15 times in the abdomen, and I spent months in the hospital. I had no health insurance, thousands of dollars in medical bills, and I couldn't work. I went to several attorneys and none of them would take my case. A friend recommended Jim. He told me these cases are very hard β€” the attackers were already locked up and had no money or insurance, and the only option was to sue the bar for failing to look out for its customers. He warned me not to get my hopes up; the assault happened outside the business, after closing, and the evidence wasn't in our favor. I know he worked hard and spent a lot of time on my case, consulting with security experts and tracking down witnesses. In the end we lost, just like he had predicted, but he didn't charge me a dime for his work. I still felt better β€” I'm glad we tried. I'm so grateful to Jim. Even though he knew it wasn't a strong case, I always felt he was giving me his best effort. Afterward he negotiated with the hospital and the doctors and we reached an agreement where I paid only 10% of the bills, in small installments.

I had marijuana plants growing in my basement. One night the police showed up with a court order, went straight to the basement, and found them. They took me in around 11 p.m. My wife called Jim at midnight, and by morning he had me in front of a judge and got me released without bail. I was charged with cultivating with intent to distribute β€” a felony. At trial, Jim cross-examined the officers who came to my house. The officer admitted he found nothing to suggest I was selling β€” only the plants themselves. Even though there were 14 plants, Jim pushed the officer until he admitted that someone with a heavy personal habit could reasonably need 14 plants. They had to drop the charge, and in the end they offered me possession for personal use β€” a citation with a $500 fine. For me, that was a great result.
