Jim Carson was born and raised in Omaha. He attended Omaha public schools through high school, then went on to Creighton University for both his undergraduate degree (Business Administration, Cum Laude, 1994) and his J.D. (1996). During school, he worked one summer at the Iowa prosecutor's office and another at a Kansas firm focused entirely on personal injury — early exposure to both sides of the courtroom.
He began his career at Rickerson, Kruger & Ratz in Omaha, working alongside attorney Eric Kruger on civil litigation and business matters. There he represented both individual clients and well-known companies — Pinnacle Bank, Farm Bureau Insurance, Great American Insurance, Progress West Real Estate, Par III, Inc., and Cornhusker Nursery, among others.
In 2018, Jim opened his own firm, Carson Law, L.L.C., expanding his reach beyond the corporate domain and making his trial experience available to individuals, families, and small businesses across eastern Nebraska.
Today Jim lives in Omaha with his wife and their three sons. Like their father before them, the boys attend Omaha public schools.
Licensed in 1997, Jim has tried cases before judges and juries. He has practiced in the Workers' Compensation Court, County Court, District Court, the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, and has argued before the Nebraska Supreme Court and the Nebraska Court of Appeals.
Working alongside attorney Eric Kruger, he represented major companies including Pinnacle Bank, Farm Bureau Insurance, Great American Insurance, Progress West Real Estate, Par III, Inc., and Cornhusker Nursery. He has also represented individuals and families across civil and criminal matters, on both sides — plaintiff and defendant. He has handled cases involving hundreds of thousands of dollars and small matters alike.
